A Classic Southern California Car Show with a Small-Town Feel
The Temecula Rod Run was family-friendly, relaxed, and full of beautifully maintained cars from different eras. The streets were blocked off, there was a strong police presence, and the whole event felt safe and welcoming.
One thing that stood out right away was how many locals seemed to come back every year. People were wearing Rod Run shirts from past events, talking with car owners, and enjoying Old Town Temecula like it was a yearly tradition.
Quick Tips Before You Go
Arrive Early
Parking fills up fast, especially in the nearby structures.
Bring Water
There are water fill-up stations, but it’s still smart to bring bottles.
Great for Families
A wagon or stroller helps if you have little kids who get tired walking.

Parking & Arrival Advice
Parking was very full, so getting there early is one of the biggest tips. The parking structures fill up quickly, and street parking can usually be found several blocks away if you’re willing to walk.
We parked near Sam Hicks Monument Park, close to the Denny’s area, and it was about a 5–10 minute walk into the event. If you’re bringing kids, a wagon or stroller can make the day much easier.
What Stood Out
The variety of cars was one of the best parts. There were colorful paint jobs, super-low custom cars, classic trucks, and beautifully kept vehicles that looked like they had been cared for their entire lives.
It had an old-school, small-town car show feel — relaxed, nostalgic, and very community-centered.
A Few Favorite Cars
Food, Shops & Old Town Temecula
There was a food vendor area at the event, and vendors accepted both cash and cards. There were also water fill-up stations near Town Square and the Old Town parking garage.
Old Town restaurants were open too, including local favorites like Bottega Italia and Mad Madeline’s Grill. Swing Inn Cafe was also a fun stop — Dean Norris, known from Breaking Bad, owns the restaurant and was on-site selling merch, food, and taking pictures.
Is the Temecula Rod Run Family-Friendly?
Absolutely. We would recommend it for families, kids, car enthusiasts, and casual visitors. The streets were blocked off, the event felt safe, and there was plenty to see even if you’re not a serious car person.
For families with younger kids, bring water, sun protection, and something to help tired little legs. Walking up and down Old Town can add up quickly.
